One thing we love about Covid, is how creative and flexible our couples have become in the way they see their wedding day. Instead of the big wedding they initially planned, they are instead opting for smaller more intimate weddings. This means more time spent with those closest to you, and a budget which can be spent on things most important to you. Our NSW couple, who couldn’t have their original wedding in Brisbane due to border closures, opted instead to celebrate at Babalou in Kingscliff. This intimate wedding for just 24 guests was no less stunning than a big wedding, and had all the personal touches that were important to them, including a live painting of their wedding ceremony by I am Poppy, and caricatures of their guests. Our bride loves the tropical style, so created a luxe oasis for them using swags of tropical foliage suspended from the ceiling and throughout their spaces. Their ceremony arbour became the backdrop for photos later in the day. As they wanted their ceremony indoors, but didn’t want their guests to see the reception, we created a faux wall with room dividers. Whilst bride & groom were off getting photos, guests enjoyed drinks downstairs in the Tavern before returning upstairs to Babalou for the reception.
