Creating the perfect tablescape

There are a few things to consider when planning your tablescape. Most important is whether your will be having a set menu plate drop, or a shared style dinner with platters running down the middle of the table. This will dictate how much room is available for centrepiece & floral styling, and also whether you need some additional pieces to create a beautiful place setting.

If you're having a set menu or alternate drop, your venue will not have plates set on the tables as the food will be plated in the kitchen and served to each guest. In this instance it is really nice to use a charger plate or placemat as a decorative base for your napkin, menu & cutlery. This will help create a beautiful scene when your guests first enter the room. Imagine a table without this and it is quite plain. You will also have plenty of space down the middle of the tables to style with candles and florals.

If you are having shared platters, your venue will likely have plates pre set on the tables. You could still consider adding a charger plate or place mat to enhance the setting. Menus, name cards and a sprig of foliage or floral will personalise each setting. You will have limited room for decorative styling down the middle of the tables, so the individual place settings are important.

Linen napkins are a great and inexpensive way of adding a pop of colour to the table settings. We have a range of colours and have been known to custom make to suit a particular colour palette/theme. Crystal cut glassware and gold cutlery will add a touch of luxe to your table settings. If your venue offers plain glassware consider adding a single crystal cut wine or water glass, this is also an inexpensive way to create a touch of elegance. Elegant champagne coupes are commonly used to for champagne towers. We love them!
